A l’origine, il abritait des pavillons présentant aussi bien les départements et territoires outre-mer que les possessions françaises d’Afrique et d’Asie ainsi qu’un jardin tropical.<br /> Délaissées pendant de nombreuses années sans entretien, les constructions se sont dégradées et certains pavillons ont été vandalisés ou incendiés.
